  • Good Polytunnel growing advice books

Been thinking of buying a polytunnel (looking at first polytunnels) any advice on good books which offer advice on growing in a polytunnels year round. I live in the S/W of Scotland near Ayr

I've got this one: How to Grow Food in Your Polytunnel: Amazon.co.uk: Mark Gatter, Andy McKee: Books

First sent it free when we ordered the school polytunnel

But this is very good too: The Polytunnel Book: Fruit and Vegetables All Year Round: Amazon.co.uk: Joyce Russell, Ben Russell: Books

Yes, if you only buy one, buy Mark Gatter and Andy McKee's, I always go to it first. This time last year I didn't have a tunnel or even a proper garden. Now I'm providng a really significant part of our weekly veg, just about to harvest my first new potatoes and broad beans, looking at strawberries that will be ripe by then end of the month and looking forward to my own tomatoes, peppers chillies and aubergines.

What I can't get from their book or where I need a some detail it doesn't include or confirmation of what I'm thinking I come here.

They also do one on setting up and siting your tunnel. I borrowed that one from the library!
The Polytunnel Handbook: Amazon.co.uk: Andy McKee, Mark Gatter: Books

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

I haver the Polytunnel Handbook which is great but is more about setting up etc. as mentioned.
For growing I have "The Polytunnel Book: Fruit and Vegetables All Year Round: Joyce Russell, Ben Russell", again mentioned above. It's brilliant, especially if you want to garden all year round. The first part is broken down in what to do month by month. The second part focuses on the particular fruit/vegetables and and what to do month by month. Great photos too.

When I got mine I was recommended Gardening Under Plastic by Bernard Salt (Spares, parts and accessories: First Tunnels) and although not the easiest to get hold of at the time, was well worth it and really helped me.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
