Blimey that looked brutal. Might try it on a couple of mine to see what happens. They're a lot more spindly and delicate than that specimen though!

I pinched out the tips of my chillies today but they're no where near the size of those. They were from a hanging basket kit from Aldi and I've got them hanging up in the conservatory. Did anybody else get that kit? There were 6 seeds in the kit and they all came up. I have 3 in the basket (instructions said to thin to 3 in the basket) and 3 in pots .

Might take some pics in the daylight and get you experts to have a look as I don't really know what they should look like.

Last year my lottie neighbours bought a chillie plant from a garden centre and plonked it in the ground. It wasn't very well cared for but it did produce some small orange chillies. Apparently they go to France every summer which I thought was a bit strange just having taken on an allotment. Anyway I offered to water what few things they planted if necessary and if I had time. I haven't seen them since though they have paid another years rent. The plot is overgrown again.

For my efforts at the end of the season last year I helped myself to one of their chillies. It was small, orange and bell shaped. It was hot but not unbearably so. Maybe an inch and a half in length and width. I never thought to look at the label at the time. The other day I was tidying the cupboard where I keep my seeds and found 5 seeds that I had saved from that chillie. I think it's too late to start them off now so will try next year.

    Any ideas what variety?

They weren't as long as the Cheyenne.

More like the Habanero, and I was very careful not to put too much into what I was cooking.

I'm going to sew the seeds next year and see what happens. When is the best time?
