  • Raspberries in the orchard

I was considering sticking some autumn fruiting raspberries between the rows of fruit trees, but since they belong to the same family as the apples, rowans, amelanchiers and cherry plums are they likely to cause disease problems?

Also, I'm thinking of dotting them about individually (so that I don't need to worry about eventual overcrowding ). Is that likely to cause problems vis a vis support, or can I just give them a bamboo cane each?
The problem with rounded personalities is they don't tesselate.

I tried this with yellow raspberries, but I couldn't keep the grass clear around them and they got swamped. I'd think that they're so remotely related to apples and plums, about as closely as I am to Genghis Khan, that they're unlikely to cause disease problems.

Mind you I'd heard old Genghis was related to just about everyone

Thanks Yummersetter. I'll stop worrying about viruses then, and just put them where it's convenient.
