| Cheers Nick, just assumed that as lemons and apples were different they'd be different cucumbers! Learn something new every day (just forget it again the day after.............). OH used to go on about his nan growing them when he was a kid and got me to source some about 10 years ago - took ages at the time and the only people I found with them was Edwin Tucker. Much easier now, bought the ones I've got growing this year when I saw them in one of the garden centres. They're dead prolific too and seem to crop well without any real effort which is my kind of plant.

| And if you don't pick them young for with a salad you can chop them up and use them in stir fries so still useful!

| Hi DDL, Lemon cucumbers (apple is the same thing) are small, round yellow cucumbers, outdoor variety. I'm growing some and they are great looking wee plants - really sturdy. I haven't many seeds left, but if your interested I could send you 2 or 3. PM me if you want some.

| The year we grew them we put them on the reamins of the compost heap - they shot off! Didn't support them but we got a great crop. Now have DALEK bins so can't do that any more - and I've always got more uses for the compost that I have compost!

| I've grown them in the greenhouse too, supported off wires, tend to get an earlier crop and a thinner skin - apart from that taste pretty much the same.
