| If you want a cherry pie but have no cherries - Mix and cook equal parts blackberries and gooseberries together in a pan and strain the juice to remove pips and it tastes like cherries. sweeten to taste

| Interesting! I have 1000s of blackberries (literally, about a 100m stretch of bushes bordering my lottie) but I'm not all that keen on them. I'll give them a try with gooseberries

| i tryed this as a sorbert recipe to use up the last of the fruit and the taste was quite close to those cherry pies you get in supermarkets.
