Default Pumpkin advice please.

I have one pumpkin that is doing well on a large sprawling plant. I keep getting lots of advice to cut off the leaves and all shoots so that all the goodness goes to the pumpkin. Is this correct.

Thanks

Not really. A bit drastic. The plant still needs leaves to process sunlight without which it would die and your Pumpkin would snuff it too.
Pinch out the main growing shoot so it doesn't try and share it's energy too much. Give it plenty of water and a feed at least twice a week.
