Default NNW facing wall planters advice please

I have a rather ugly wall area under the kitchen window that faces NNE, not NNW as the title suggests, apologies. At this time of year the sun will briefly shine here in the early hours only. It would be, so I am thinking, a rather useful site to hang troughs on, so that the aesthetic appearance might be improved as well as utilising what is possibly a productive space for plants ..... but what plants? Does anyone have any ideas as to what might flourish in this sort of environment? Herbs? Vegetables? Anything? All advice would be most welcome .... thank you!

Salad leaves? Herbs like chervil? Worth a go.

Thank you, I appreciate your time and recommendations. Will probably give herbs a try.

Tetra rose is a clematis that will romp away on that wall. Busy lizzies also do well in hanging baskets in that situation. There are several beautiful roses that thrive in semi shade too. Good luck.

For a climbing rose, Zepherin Drouhin is one of the few that will grow in a North facing situation. It's pink, beautifully scented and thornless.
Hydrangea Petiolaris will grow north facing. I found it slow growing but have seen it doing well north facing in other places - so worth a try.
For ornamentals and edibles - lettuce should be OK, Busy lizzies, Begonia Semperflorens, Hostas, Welsh Poppies (?) - grew there for me, and so many more.
Hope you get them to do well.

Default Thank you all ....

Many thanks for all the varied ideas, it has certainly given me a great deal of food for thought. I do appreciate all the time and trouble taken.
When the wall takes on a new look then I shall certainly post before and after images of it .... perhaps for marks out of 10!

Happy Tuesday Dreams!

Mike
