Default More Cherry Toms Probs...

my cherry toms are doing ok outside against a wall but the ones in the greenhouse have something wrong- once they have flowered, the flower buds just fall off at their base leaving only a stalk- there are no fruits at all- could this be a result of the greenhouse overheating?? i am sure someone knows the answer so many thanks in advance.

Fortunately I don't have this problem but think that if you mist the plants with water you'll improve the humidity and it should help but may have got this totally wrong. Do the plants look generally healthy apart from the lack of fruit?

Yes. Alison, The Plants Look Pretty Healthy To My Novice Eye - They Have Flowered Profusely But Then Just Fall Off Before Forming Fruit.

Hi
Do you have the doors to the greenhouse open - they are probably just not getting fertilised. Tap the stems gently every day or let the bees and other bugs in to shift the pollen around. The misting also helps the pollen move about.

They don't need insects to pollinate them but you do need to get the pollen to move around within the flowers. A gentle daily shake will help.

Try and keep the temperature under control - pollen won't be viable once you get up to 40 degrees Centigrade, which it does in my greenhouse. I can't grow tomatoes well in there.

Cool it down and get some air through.

I had the same problem in July with tomatoes in Greenhouse. I put it down to the wet and dull weather. Since it has got warmer and drier, new flowers seem to set OK.
