  • Just waiting now....

Well every windowsill is full with seedlings at different sizes. The unheated GH is the same. Every day I seem to move things around, pot things on, prick things out. Each day I find something new to sow. Today I bit the bullet a little and moved some of the flower seedlings to an outdoor shelf and just wrapped the frame with some fleece, fingers crossed that they will harden off and not find it too much of a shock. It did not seem to make a lot more room in the GH though.

you're braver than me, I keep trying to find a bit more space to avoid putting them outside! I think it's still too cold for me and therefore, too cold for the veg

Hardening off needs to be done gradually
Or else it's not hardening off, it's murder !

Seriously, put them outside during the daytime, take them in at night. Do this for 7-10 days and then they can stay out at night.

Although, if they were in an unheated greenhouse, going to a fleece wrapped shelf... I think they'll be ok I'd unwrap the fleece during the day, and wrap it back up at night.

Yes thats right SarzWix, I have moved them from unheated GH and they are now on a wrought iron shelf which I have wrapped in fleece and made a front 'door' from some polythene. They managed ok last night, it was a test really of a few of my 'spares' and all seems well. We have much warmer weather here a bit of a micro climate due to the south downs and being closer to france, so i am told. This being my first year of 'proper' gardening, I do appreciate all of the tips and advice, and have also learned to try things and experiment. I probably have sown far too much and I am running out of space and pots!! I will hold out til May for most things to go outside

Glorious sunshine again today we have had some excitement today - I will find the appropriate thread to post this on.
