Default Great Excitement - The Long Wait Is Over

Yup - you've guessed it, I've got an allotment

Went to see it this evening and nearly bit the secretary's hand off.

Hoping the shed will be left (be great if the previous owner left the rotavator too!!!!), just needs a quick once over on most of it with a rotavator or fork and I'll be planting.

You really don't get much luckier than this

Really got to get my head round the planning bit now

Congratulations ChrisB! Just in time for the planting season as well! Take some photies as-is and you can then have something to look back on when you get it the way you want it!

Come rain hail or snow, even if I only manage to get one square foot dug, I'm planting something this weekend.

Photos will follow, but the difference between now and later certainly won't be as spectacular as some I've seen on here, as it really is in fairly good condition.

One thing I've learned on the Vine is the generosity of the grapes - our 'umble plot was in fine nick when we took it over (just a few annual weeds) and I know how fortunate we've been compared to those who really do GYO against the odds - but nonetheless I've had nothing but encouragement from all here.

Mind you, they probably all talk about me behind my back.

I know you'll have LOADS of fun. And as to the digging, well heck, it's cheaper than a gym - and a lot more satisfying. You've got good meals to look forward to at the end.

Congratulations CB! How exciting! I'm really pleased for you. We'll have to swop notes because I got mine just before Christmas, but due to the weather its only just coming together. Looking forward to hearing how you get on! Well done! Bernie aka Dexterdog

Thanks everybody for your good wishes and encouragement

Was trying to plan the allotment today. You can imagine how upset I was - not - when we had to shut the computers down this morning because of a problem, I got my gardening book out and starting planning.

Unfortunately after that work got in the way, so I'm not much further forward.

Checked the weather, Saturday sunny intervals so guess where I'll be. Sunday not so good, so I'll be hot footing it round the garden centres to see if there are any onion sets, broad beans and peas left

Might even give up my gym membership now.

Don't forget to take your camera this weekend so you can show us! Did the previous person leave the rotivator or had it gone when you took over?
