  • Fathers Day.

Happy fathers day to all you lovely dads on here. Hope you get spoiled today.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I was on my way down to buy a bottle of wine when I was tooted at. I didn't recognise the car so ignored it until it pulled up beside me. It was eldest son, daughters and 2 dogs doing Father's Day. I said I had no reason to recognise the day having no husband, partner or father. Actually, it's not only Father's Day but also my dad's birthday. We didn't speak for 40 years but were reconciled when Brian died. I arranged to go to Canada to see him but he died before I got there.

My daughter teaches a reception class. So while the kids were all making Father's Day cards last week, she made me one.

            It certainly takes you back!

I had a double bubble day, fathers day and my 45th wedding anniversary and have been spoiled rotten.

Favourite breakfast fillet of smoked fish with two poached eggs. Son arrives with very funny 3D card (see below) and a bottle of good port (he knows me well). Late lunch at a very nice pub with SWMBO, a little snooze and now some Vine Time.

All in all a lovely day..

                        Had a great day!

It's ANZAC weekend here, Brightlingsea had !
A large number of ANZAC troops here in 1916..so I watched no.1 daughter and no.2 daughter March and parade for the guides and rainbows respectively.

Gave thanks at the war memorial.

Then a picnic, followed by Brightlingsea VS austrailia cricket on the recreation ground.

Home for tea then a couple of hours fishing at frinton... No fish but a little lobster lol

Great day, we don't do presents..we're saving but you don't need gifts when you have time with the kids!

Both me and OH have lost our dads and don't have kids ourselves so the whole thing passes us by. I remember my dad often in general day to day life so don't feel any need to do anything special today. Used to make cards for him when I was younger to show him he was special but it was much more low key then. Was a bit confused when a friend of mine was buying her husband a present (from her not their child as they don't have one) as he's not her dad (or anybody's for that matter), seemed quite odd but apparently it's widened out now for some reason.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I got to go to Portugal for Fathers Day..
...had to pay for it myself tho

Had a great day with the kids...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

                            ...utterly nutterly

Hmm, our boys made a special trip to the shop yesterday to get their Dad some presents (several packets of chocolate digestives and a bar of whole nut - he has a sweet tooth ocassionally!) well they went out last night and stayed at friends, one remembered to text him this morning and when they got in this afternoon they obviously had forgotten. They may have eaten the chocs as he hasn't been given them yet!
