  • Desert Island decorations?

And so....you are allowed 5 favourite Xmas decorations to take with you...what will yours be and why?

    1) We have a set of 4 small metal Santas each carrying a letter from the word NOEL which we rearrange the order and position of several times a day.
....just because they have given me a lot of giggles over the years

    2) a small metal pony with dangly string legs and bells for hooves...just cos it's simple, looks daft and tinkles when you walk past it.

    3) A slice of a branch with a heart carved out of it
...because I have a very happy memory of buying it.

    4) a reindeer face made by our daughter from a paper plate at infant school...because she made it

    5) a pasta bauble made by our son at about the same age....because he made it.

and as a magic extra......I'd love to have the paper and scellotape stocking I made for my grandmother which she kept for ever cos she was very proud of me!

And so...which are your favourites and why??

Hmmm. I think I have my five items

          1. Chocolate coins
          2. Three very old ornaments that I have now been given. A pink pearl with fake pearls on, a blue thing with bits of glass on and a green one with stuff on meant to be gold
          3. Little ornaments the kids have made over the years.
          4. Well can't go wrong with some more chocolate coins.
          5. This is a special item. My dad bought it years ago and its just hateful. Its a golden tree topper looks like 3 gold balls on top of each other and a pointy thing on top. We all hate it apart from him. One of those items it doesn't matter how many times you stand on it, it just wont break.
So I want to take it to the desert island so I can bury it in the sand and leave it there

              Decorations:
A small christmas tree about 18" tall, ready dressed.
              And that's it.

Unfortunately it would be easier for me to have nothing. I ended up with all the family decorations, some 12 or so boxes. (Being the girlie and the one who fussed that you had to go over the top for christmas). So decs include:

A distressed looking angel (the one me and my brother grew up with each year)
2 other angels bought my different people the year we couldn't find the usual angel
Some knitted/crochet snowmen I remember my Nanny giving me one year in a brown paper bag.
Little birds with real feathers (most of which don't actually have two legs as they have not aged well)
A posh Harrods bauble bought the year I lived in London as a student

Bet I would bury it. Sod being rescued if it meant never seeing that thing again. To start a fire I would rub two sticks again. Come to think about it if I did use it to start a fire I could then burn it

Being somewhat Bah Humbug I would take just the one, our tree topper who is apparently meant to be Good King Wensaslas, but he is called "Woody" not because of the chap gathering winter feueulllll, but because ha looks like Roy Wood doing ....

He who smiles in the face of adversity, has already decided who to blame

This is easy - I only have 3 Christmad Decorations

1 A Tin Angel with bells who wobbles

                      2. A Tin Santa in a helicopter

                      3. An enamel Elk from Canada

It doesn't take long to put my decorations up - or take them down
