  • greenhouse roof windows slipping

hi, wondered if anyone has any tips on stopping my greenhouse roof glass from slipping. - the glass is in individual toughened glass sheets sitting on a rubber strips either side with long plastic clips running the length of each pane. At the bottom of each pane I have been unable to thread a rubber seal to the gutter end as I found it really tricky - I did try to use a a silicon gun instead but it seemed to gum up the guttering and didn't ultimately stop the glass from slipping.

does anyone have any ideas or tips on how I could remedy this situation please.

    many thanks

Not sure I fully understand what is happening but I thought these held the glass in place: P.S Welcome to the vine.

Could you maybe post a pic showing the present set up. Very difficult to try to envisage the problem without seeing it

Im sure we will be able to help but i think we're going to need a pic. maybe a pic from a slight distance but also a close up on how your glass is sitting on the frame? .

            Good Morning

I've just completed building a greenhouse and used these Z clips with no problems. Easy to install.

many thanks for the feedback - I will have another look and take a pic and post this if necessary - the Z clips may work and will see if this could be suitable also.

I'd contact the supplier and see what suggestions they come up with.

I think the OP is referring to bar capping (as sold by The Greenhouse People, and others, which replace the Z clips.

I have bar capping on my Simplicity Classic 8x6 and the glass does not slip at all. You must make sure that the bar capping is firmly tapped into place; this takes more effort than you would think.

Simplicity also beds the glass onto a foam strip which is double sided sticky - this may be missing/deteriorated in the OP's greenhouse - the OP will be able to confirm this by seeing if the glass is bedded on the foam and if the bar capping is loose when properly clipped in.

See page 20 of this .pdf to see how it works. ISSUU - Simplicity Classic greenhouses instructions by The Greenhouse People
