Hi All,
After reading the heirloom vs hybrid thread and other things, it crossed (excuse the pun) my mind how exciting it might be to try to cross breed some tomatoes to make a new breed.
From looking on the internet I see it can be quite fiddly, and can take about 6 generations (so 6 years) to grow true, and there are still no guarantees that you'll end up with something worth the effort, so;
Has anyone on here tried this before?
Has anyone got any tips? How much space do you think you'd need?
Or do you just have two favourite tomato varieties that have characteristics that you would like to see in a new variety?
My first thought this morning was Amish Paste/Sungold!!
