  • To say..........

Had to bury my little Monty cat yesterday - he was run over.
We grew him from kitten seed 16 years ago. Sebbie cat (his brother) seems to know - do they know? how can we help him. First time either of us (mr HF and I) as adults have ever had to deal with this type of thing- plenty of other horrid stuff - but not this -
Feels like my world has been broken. He was my shaddow- awlays on the plot with me, even when doing the girls (bees) he would be lurking close by. Not sure I want to go over there now.
just feel awful today Mr HF too

Oh Headfry - so sorry. Yes, I'm sure animals know what's happened.

Headfry you have to carry on as before go to Montys grave explain how you feel and say goodbye and where you are going to be it will help you and Monty.
I had to do it in 1990 when my old Weimaner died and was burried alongside the path through the wood and my new dog Sheba would not go past the grave until i had said goodbye to him i still now say hello some times as we walk past .
So many commiserations upon your sad loss but life has to go on and you will feel Monty around you when are on the plot or sorting the Bees out best wishes..Jacob..

Oh bless......I really do feel for you- that's exactly what happened to my Neo three years ago. We'd only just moved here too.

What did I do???....cried my heart out for several days. We went out and bought an apple tree and he's buried under it....it's producing it's first 2 fruit this year!
Hewie ( other cat) who never got on with him, was utterly lost for a few days. Stroking him was good therapy for us both .
        Strangely Hewie blossomed after that.
Neo used to jump on to the bed and come and nibble my chin in the morning...I still miss that.

Life moves on- but we're left richer with those wonderful memories.

Big hugs to you both- and a cuddle for Sebbie xx

              So sorry to hear this

Run Free at the Bridge Monty-Cat

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

How sad. The longer they are with you the bigger a hole they leave. The memories still shine though. Cling to those.

Aww HF, I really feel for you. We lost our pusscat who had been with us for 18 years since she was a kitten. Exactly a year today. I miss her every time I come into the house and even yet, in the kitchen, I find myself looking for her to make sure I don't trample her underfoot as I turn around. It was the most horrible feeling at the time. We really should get another one but we still feel we can't replace her as she was the most individual of individuals. I'm sure all cat owners know what I mean.

So very sorry, HF. When our pets leave us, they tear our hearts - we can mend the heart and stitch it up, but it's never the same again.

Many hugs for you, Mr HF and Sebbie.

I totally understand how hard it is, we only lost Rex at the beginning of June - also to a car accident. Ludo (dog) missed his adversary so much we got 2 new kittens in jolly short order (3 weeks later) and that really cheered Ludo and us up. Rex is buried in the garden, in the place where he used to sit and watch the chooks (our replacement chooks after our first ones were stolen were killed by a polecat or something the same day we lost Rex) and we are going to plant a pussy willow tree to mark the spot.

The loss doesn't go away but you begin to remember the good times you had together instead of focusing on the sadness of the missing pet.
                            Happy Gardening,
                            Shirley

Oh HF....my heart just cries out for you. I am so sorry for your loss.

Two weeks ago, on the day we came home from a family funeral, we lost our cat Pedro - hit by a car, out of hours vets £288 bill and one cat to bury. A week later my mother lost her beloved Misty, the most beautiful silver Ragdoll, also to a car. Complete strangers, in the car behind the one that hit him, did do their very best to get him to the vet, again out of hours, but he passed away before the vet got to the surgery. They did cuddle and talk to him to the last which I thought was wonderful of them, and has been some consolation to my devastated parents.

                              We know your loss,
