  • Are your Daffodils in flower yet?

    Hi all

I did an ebay deal with a guy in the States recently and he kept talking about the weather. I wasn't sure if he was a Brit abroad, trying to get me to be very "English" and talk about the weather or just being polite.

Anyway, he asked me if the Daffodils were up in the gardens yet.
TBH, I don't like them much and just before I had a new shed put in last year tried to dig up everything that was in that area so we could start again.
I missed some and although they are not in flower yet, they will be soon, so just wondering if we could have a little "Mine are/mine aren't and I'm in" straw poll?

When we put up the greenhouse, we cleared the area, put a deep layer of sand down and then heavy flagstones with cement between them ...and we have a tulip growing up in the middle.. Talk about determination!

None actually open yet, but the buds are showing well. Shouldn't be more than a couple of days, but they are well later than last year.

I only have about a dozen daffs left from the many dozens I planted about 20 years ago. They are always in flower by March 16th. This is the first year they haven't flowered yet. The buds are healthy enough but they look only about two thirds of their normal height. I reckon that even with the current much better weather it may be another week.
Why didn't Noah just swat those 2 greenflies?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

Nope, still just looking like leaves. The few tulips in a tub are looking more lively.

My well established ones are about to break bud, but the ones I put in in November last year are still only 6" tall with tight buds.

No. There are lots in the village (which enters for Yorkshire in Bloom) but not a one further than the standing-up-straight in bud stage.
