Speaking of growbags, do you know whether the garden centres and the likes of B&Q sell off their growbags at the end of the season?

I have been on the lookout but haven't seen any signs yet. Seems to me they'd be good to put over the deep beds before I cover them up for winter.

They do indeed - it's a good idea to keep an eye out for the offers which should be appearing very soon, but do keep in mind that the contents will be very 'strong' so less will be needed if using as a mulch.

Last year I managed to pick up 20 grow bags from Netto for 50p each!

I discovered about a dozen black bin bags full of spent compost that had been fly tipped nearby. I did my bit in helping to clean up the environment.

Thanks kwa50. I wish we had a Netto near here. We're very short on bargain stores - I think we only have Lidles and, of course, Trago Mill who aren't bad for garden stuff. They don't come near the Netto bargains though.

Managed to get on with some digging today. We grow on very light soil so it drains quickly even after the soaking recently.
