  • Tree identification help

Near where Madmax works there is a hedge with all sorts of stuff growing in it, dog roses, blackberry, pyracantha (excuse spelling) oak, etc. There is also a tree/large shrub which I would love to identify. It has a leaf similar to a currant and is now sporting yellow fruits which hang in clusters of around 5. They are large currant size and have a largeish seed inside.

I have looked in various tree books and can't find anything. Anyone able to help with a good online site please?

That's odd Shirley, I was just looking at an intriguing shrub on the canal bank the other day - it had currant-ish leaves & very glossy red fruit (solid red rather than the slightly translucent red of redcurrants - and wondering what it could be. I'll drag out my big RHS Plant Finder book later & see if I can work out what they are.
