  • Don't know which way round...

It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow, so went to get a card (I value my life) and they had loads "To my wonderful Husband", "On Your Anniversary" and even one from your pets (?)

But I could only find 2 "To My Wife", great choice.

Now is this the reason why some husbands don't get cards for their wife or is it that the shops find there is no real buyers for them?
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

    Perhaps there's no demand ? !!

Personally, I don't like receiving a card from someone in the same house as me (different if we are miles apart) ~ just say Happy Anniversary, or better still, spell it out in chocolate spread on some toast

Say it with flowers or better still a pot plant, chillis are good - you could tie a bow around with a note saying something soppy like "to show the heat of my love" eeeeyuuk

Himself bought me one last weeked for our anniversary - he loved it because it had a couple of little fake diamonds glued on and said on the back - not suitable for those under 36 months due to small parts!

I must admit I bought one of the two on offer. First one had pictures of roses on but was a really naff picture, so bought the other one.

Was only this morning when I was pledging my undying love in it that I noticed the outside has a sort of glitter on it. Oh how she hates glitter.

So if today is the last time I post on here, then someone post an obituary for me "Never could pay attention to detail"

She didn't mention the glitter. Probably because I had bought a card and prezzie (nothing to do with the allotment or kitchen) and she hadn't got me a card. A first in this house.

I hate this pressure to give the right card / gift, a lot of it is just a money making exercise by the big shops. You seem to be expected to send a card to your nearest and dearest now just because it's a Monday or something now! A friend of mine was instructed by her sister to send her neice a "Good Luck in your first day back at school" card the other day - for goodness sake, if you REALLY want to give her a card then make one but the kid would much rather have a quick phone call and hear from her aunty anyway. I'm sure that Steve's wife was touched that he'd remembered their anniversary and as she didn't get a card then I'm guessing that she's not fallen for all the commercialism of it all and it was the thought not the glitter that mattered! Personally, my ideal anniversary would be to spend sometime together without having to do "jobs" and maybe cook a nice meal together. Nothing flash, just a bit of time to enjoy each other.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

No, a bit of time is far more special to me than anything of monetary value. The trap is falling for what shops tell you to buy rather than what your heart tells you.
