I am right down here on the south coast and I can confirm its VERY windy out there today!

The sea looks like its boiling. Imagine there are the usual gigantic waves being splashed up against the Marina walls today.

My poor Vivaldi spuds are getting blown about something rotten - I'll be lucky to have any green stuff left on them by the time these gales have blown themselves out.

I've seen worse down here - but haven't been along coast road today. Take care everyone and if you really don't have to go out - stay indoors.

This weather's such as shame, most of our friends seem to be spending their hard earned holidays in the South West this summer. Miserable.

yeah, we did. In a tent
I hope Gordon's having a horrible wet time too, though I doubt it. He can take his "holiday in the UK" and stuff it ... at least until our resorts and campsites provide adequate shelter, activities & facilities under cover. (Eden Project has got it right, with plenty of stuff indoors)

Well it had to happen didn't it?

The spuds took a battering and I've now staked the spud tubs in hope that any foliage clining on might help the pots develop as the weeks pass. Stupid really - I should have done this when I planted them as to keeps the foliage more under control and tidier. Or even yesterday when we knew this was on its way - that'll teach me.

You just don't expect such gales this time of the year - I'll not wait for it to happen next year that's for sure.

The wind has now passed, a couple of very heavy showers but there is a nice blue sky for the evening
