  • I've had the most wonderful day

I've still not got the key to my lottie yet, but the site rep said he's happy to let me in till I get the key. I went over there last weekend to make a start on clearing one bit of the plot, but due to the bad weather I've not managed to get over there till today. I've also got my mum down for two weeks and she can be very demanding, but today I made her a little packed lunch, packed up a sun chair for her, a flask of tea and the book she's reading and set off for the lottie. In 3 hours I managed to finish clearing the top bit and turned all the earth over and sprayed the rest of the plot which is full of couch grass, nettles, thistles and the like, but best of all, I met the girl on the next plot to me and straight off she's offered to share her shed with me and gave me a key there and then!! I'm sooooo chuffed. I thought it'd be ages till I'd be able to afford a shed but no, I've got half a shed straight off A chap thats got a plot down the bottem end came over and offered to rotivate the rest of my plot once the weedkiller has had chance to work, my mums happy as she had a nice sleep and has nearly finished her book, and then my father in law came over this evening with a load of potatoes that are ready to be planted out I took a couple of piccies of the plot - any idea on how I get them on here? Sad I know, but I keep looking at my little shed key and smiling to myself

Nice one. The best part is, that feeling never goes away. As soon as you walk in the lottie gates, the smile will be there no matter what else has happened and it's the kind of smile you can't shift with a jemmy

      Good for you!
I remember the feeling well. And it's true, it can only get better, once you get your first harvest, and it doesn't matter what, you'll be hooked for life. Welcome to the club.

You sound just like me, eager to be on the allotment and loving every minuet of it. Although it is pouring down we have been down this am and sorted out the tomatoes in the greenhouse.People on our site are also kind and full of good advice as we are relativley new to the game but have done well this last year.

Yay! Sounds like you've had a really good day. We had one of those yesterday. I've been up there today but I ache so much that I just set one row of spuds and came home. I need to conserve my energy for the 'buttercup-athon' next weekend (we're digging them all out).

            Long may this feeling last

Aww, what a lovely day! I went up to my lottie this evening for two hours in the rain and it was absolutely fabulous. I am aching from head to toe, have mud beneath my nails, several bruises and cuts to my hands and arms and absolutely stink, but I am happy!

              Off for a bath now....

i know that feeling too we only took onour lottie in march but its well planted up now and things are actually growing!! have a lot of flowers on the peas. onions and garlic looking good its a lovely feeling and i cant wait to taste my first home grown potatoes. we spent 6 hours there saturday and i popped over to put the tomatoes in yesterday and came back 3 hours later its so addictive, i have quite a busy job in a place with no windows and i often pop in on my way back from workand 'potter' a bit of weeding and watering and it clears my head just to hear the birds singing as well. i know i'm gonna miss it later in the year when the evenings draw in lets make the most of it while we can!!
