The search for Maddie

On sunday my niece took her 2 and a half year old daughter to a small village near here with other family members her husband was at home. She then went to her parents just down the road.
While she was in the village someone saw her put her daughter in the car and took her reg no and informed the police it was maddie mcann.
Imagine the suprise her husband had when the ploice made a visit, on the wall in the front room are lots of photo's of their daughter which the ploice looked at, and obviously could see that it wasnt maddie, but they didnt go and visibly look at the little girl.
My heart goes out to the Mcann's especcially as it is coming up to one year on. And while this to us is almost laughable that someone thought it was maddie in a way we wish it was so she could be handed back to her parents.

My daughter resembles Maddie too. Never had that happen thankfully but it made Hannah so much more aware of the story and I feel it has tinged that part of her life with sadness and a little bit of fear that it may happen to her.

I first felt on reading your post that the police were almost half hearted as they checked out this potential lead as they didnt look at the girl in question but then when I think how it would have affected Hannah being looked at by police, my heart goes out to your neice and her family to have had to have gone through it at all. I hope your neices daughter isnt too aware of how alike she is to Maddie and that she gets to enjoy her childhood ahappy and safe.

I pray every day that they will find her, safe and well but as the anniversary approaches my heart aches with certanty that sadly it isnt to be.
