Talking of blue..........whenever I see your avatar TS I think of the guy from the 'Grow Your Own' film who wanted to be different to the rest and not conform!

i saw a documentary last night about a bloke in indonesia who was "half man half tree"
he apparently had a strange and rare immunity problem that caused growth of huge dark warts all over - his hands and feet looked like bits of tree and were several times larger than normal size hands and feet - the warts were spreading over his body and face
he couldn't do a normal job like fishing so he performed in a circus - bit like a freak show - with other people with rare defects etc - one was a bloke nicknamed "bubbleman" who's entire body was covered in bubbles, another was a woman with the left side of her face sagging down (her left eye was kinda where her mouth should be) etc
i didn't exactly watch it - it was just on while i was working - but it was kind of intriguing
an american doctor had been there to find the cause and treat him - i saw the doc was confident of a cure through medication, but didn't see the end to see if he got cured

The doc was barking up the wrong tree in my opinion.

True, I don't want to conform. My shed was blue before they filmed Grow Your Own though

Fancy having medication to be taken oraly and then rubbing it over your face. Im finding it very hard to feel sorry for the bloke.

this documentary as no real conclusion...its built like a drama but with no ending...sad but its just a monster show I'm afraid!

Didn't see it myself, but it was discussed at length in our tea-room!

Apparently the American doctor did identify the cause, and had even persuaded a drug company to donate the medication for free. The 'tree man' refused to take it though, presumably for fear of losing his income, even if it was as part of a freak show.
