  • Barmy (as opposed to balmy) Weather

Tomorrow is a 'root day', after months of rain I was sort of hoping that I'd be able to finally plant the spuds in my cold claggy soil. I woke up this morning and; Yeeeey! No rain!..... I've got an inch and a half of snow instead. Wouldn't mind but this time last year the potatoes had been in for a month and we were desperate for water. At this rate I'm going to be harvesting them at Christmas without all that faffing with the fridge.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

All my 'early' spuds went in yesterday. The mains will follow very shortly ... hmmm ....
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance

Yes, very different to last year (and the longish term forecast NOT GOOD (sorry for shouting))

My second earlies will go in this weekend - as I use 'no dig' have to wait for the soil to warm up a bit more - yeah, right!
