  • The new pitter-patter-slip of paws

Well here sit-eth a pooped Shortie. What a rollercoaster few days.

I've gone from crying on the way to the station yesterday morning (yes, a very stylish look on the train I know) and again when I got home over one of my cats, to a half day at work today (realising I've therefore not had a break all day) to get said cat to the vets, while Mr Shortie picks up our new addition

So starts the life of Ruby, our ruby coloured Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. When I can muster the energy to find the camera, I'll get a photo to post.

She's had her funny five minutes of running around like a loon, freaking the cats out in the process, and now collapsed asleep. Here's hoping she'll want to use the catflap

Allotmentlady, I had very fleeting thoughts of breeding from her as she's *apparently* a very rare colour (could be a load of ol' balony though) But I just don't think I could do them justice so neutering it is later on in the year

There's nothing like a puppy to liven up a house!! Welcome to Ruby, would love to see pics when you have time.
Bred from Boo last year, never again as not only did she have a bit of bother with delivering two large pups, I was a complete basket case worrying if they were all going to be alright! I don't think I slept properly until they were all homed!!

I don't blame you! Breeding a litter of pups is like getting married. Not to be undertaken lightly, thoughtlessly or ill-advisedly and just as much hard work and worry.
I have a litter of six Whippets and spend all my day with lav.roll in one hand and mop in another, sitting down with an exhausted sigh in the ever-shortening periods when they are asleep!!
Enjoy Ruby though, puppyhood is very short and such fun!

I know a man who can help ... or if you're really serious he'll use one of the dogs

And I think Rubies are quite rare along with Blenheims.

Experienced at breeding chi's..... :-) I think you should only breed dogs if you have the time and devotion......a lot of hard work!

How wonderful... I fell in love with Cavaliers when I met my OH, his parents had 2 blenheims. We now have a gorgeous tricolour called Katie - she was 9 last week and a is a right little madam. We're thinking about getting a puppy in the summer too.

Hello RUBY!!! She sounds really cute. I love spaniels although we haven't had one for a while. I'm sure she will be just great.
