  • Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory

Has anyone been watching this Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory ?

I find this guy very interesting, good TV. I would love to tast his chocolate.
My plot is on this site!

Yes, I've watched some of it. Very interesting, but, the bloke came across as a bit, erm, arrogant? Not sure if that's the word I'm looking for, but I didn't warm to him really. Wish I'd written down his chocolate/almond cake recipe though!
Have you had Montezuma's chocolate? Chocolate Gifts, Organic Chocolates, Chocolate Bars - Montezuma's Luxury, Handmade / Artisan Chocolates, UK They make some gorgeous stuff

We have been watching it especially my DH who has been making the extra effort to chase after the program. Mind you he tends to be a bit of a maggot for chocolate, though he doesn't eat much of the stuff out of self discipline but is able to indulge within his self-imposed allowed ration. Fortunately chocolate is not something I would die for, I have more of a savoury tooth.

What the program makes you realise is that the essential chocolate ingredient cocoa is not fattening but all the nasties they mix in like cream, sugar and butter. It seems like exclusive chocolate stores (not necessarily Thorntons) are only catching on recently but in France they're pretty common in most towns (with exclusive cakes) and the quality are to die for even for a non-chocolate gal like me. Okay I can be a sucker for exclusive Continental chocolates but can say no to Cadbury, Terry etc.

Did you notice that Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory is sponsered by Seeds of Change which is owned by Mars? I guess we will be seeing his chocolate in the shops some time soon.

I find the whole chocolate making process on this programme fascinating, and as I'm a bloke, all those strange looking shiny toys he uses to process the cacoa are just too good to be true. Having said that, if an advertising agency were tasked with the job of producing a half-hour advert for this chap's product, it would probably look very much like this programme. Some of the recipes look good, but I'm getting slightly irritated with the suggestion that chocolate is the ideal addition to everything from risotto to a full English fry. You've got to hand it to him, it's all good advertising.
