  • Frozen fruit with vodka

ie just add fruit and sugar and spirit - need to get these going in the next few days

    Yes, yes and yes.
Freezing the fruit breaks up the cell structure a bit and the juices are released easier. This means the flavours and colours infuse the alcohol quicker.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

The finest Vodka Cocktail I ever had was, - a piece of smoked salmon in the glass, topped with a very good measure of really ice cold 50% alc. Vodka....................

You don't even need to bother defrosting before you add the sugar and vodka - 'tis a doddle

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

cant wait - also got my sloes frozen for the gin

Would 1lb of sloes enough for a 1 litre bottle of gin or could I get away with 1.5 ltr

would keeping the mixes in the airing cupboard speed the process up any as its only 8 weeks left to xmas!!!

I find flavour extracts faster if you add just sugar to the fruit for a while (a couple of days usually), and the booze later. May not produce such a pretty clear drink, but it tastes good!
For softer fruits, if you give them a day or 2 with the sugar, and a week with the booze, my Strawberry vodka made that way is pretty good if I do say so myself!
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
