Default New Kid on the Block

Hi I thought I should introduce myself my name is John and I have recently taken over as Chairman of the Acton Gardening Association.
I am quickly learning that the job is more about Politics than Potatoes Relationships more than Radishes Arguments rather than Artichokes.
Still it all makes the world go round and this time of the year hopefully means a new start.
It would be good to hear from anyone out there
Kind Regards
John

Heloo, welcome and well done! Politics is the problem usually. We have a few allootment society secretaries and such on these boards and in my opinion it's a thankless task, but then, someone has to do it. I'm sure you'll be forceful and tactful in equal measure! Enjoy it.

Hi Seasprout
Yes the book is called view from a shed and was written by Michael Wale our association Secretary who is also a correspondent for the BBC.
We often have quite interesting chats either on the plot or he calls me most nights as we are currently fighting a planning application for some of our Gardens
We have four sites spread out over the Acton area and currently the one under threat is the Goldsmiths plots
Good to hear from you have you much experience of people contacting you on a regular basis as there may be someone out there who may have the same problems in the past that may help us
John

I bought the book last year and the name rang a bell, I also have the more recently publised One man and his Dig by Valentine Low, I also think he's on one of your sites.

Sorry about your troubles John, I dont know anything about trying to save Allotments.

But I wish you all the best, keep us all posted.
