Aah; we are out in Shardlow; very rural [no sainsburys/tescos for a few miles]; which can only be a good thing!

I like Shardlow we often cycle out that way- we seem to get the worse of both worlds in the city centre shops on your doorstep but not selling anything you need so you still have to go out of town.
Just had a look at your lottie photos. The first one looks just like mine - the other two are in my dreams! Im really wishing I rotervated (I can't spell!) mine but I had this foolish idea I would learn more if I worked with the soil - Ha! All Ive learnt is that clay is very heavy and my back hates me. Trying to stay upbeat - I know I will get there eventually. In the menatime Ive got a good crop of dandilions if you need any Spider |

Ah yes; clayey soil...know it well. I went to the lottie on friday to 'dig over' a patch for my second onion bed...and it was so clayey claggy and wet at 2 inches deep that I just could not turn it. I ended up digging about a meter square and leaving it on the side for my OH to put back in yesterday. the rest is either planted up now, or covered with weed fabric and planted through. What a nightmare just doing that it...the roots are incredibly think and hard to pull out.
I've spent most of this pm putting our compost from home into used multipurpose compost bags to take down the lottie; it sure needs it. I also beheaded a load of dandilions today; so I'll pass on that one - thanks!!!
