    Hello from me

    Hello,
    Been lurking around for a while and finally decided to register. Very glad i found this forum.
    I grew up in Estonia and moved to Plymouth about a year ago (my husband grew up here). Growing your own produce was very popular when i grew up so i was made to weed countless times (and i hated it). And yet to my mums suprise i've learnt to love gardening. Our little garden is on a very high hill with winds coming straight on. So it can be a bit of a challenge. Last year was my first year and although in the beginning i imagined that everything would be perfect and gardening magazine worty most of the things kinda flopped (of course the weather was to blame as well). So this year i'm trying to be better at everything and pay more attention to what i'm doing. I'm sure i'll be asking lots of questions.
    I even got myself a little proper greenhouse 2 weeks ago so quite excited about that now.

    Hi Liis and welcome to the vine.

    It sounds like you have your work cut out for you with the elements where you are. Hope the greenhouse works out well and doesn't blow you off to see the wizard!
    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
    If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

        Hello liis, welcome aboard. You're certainly not the only one who had a poor year last year, I'm glad to hear it hasn't put you off. Hopefully this year will be better for all of us.

          Estonia? An extremely pretty part of the world, I understand. Well done for persevering after last year (which was terrible for all of us, I think!) and I look forward to hearing about your garden on the top of the windy Plymouth hill.

                        We lived on a windy Plymouth hill (Billacombe) for nine years. The tamarisk and raspberries were brilliant!

                            Croeso i'r Vine. I know some Estonian bagpipers, infact my OH's bagpipe book was very popular there a few year's ago but it was all photocopied from one he gave away!

                            Gardeners would never do anything like that!

                            Edit I know one Estonian bagpiper - the others are from other "tonias" and one lady who is partner to another musician I see occasionally.
