    Hi All

Been looking through this website and the forums after getting a call to look at a couple of plots on Friday. I've seen them and decided which one I'm after. Both were a bit overgrown and in need of some TLC, and I've seen conflicting views on the use of Rotavators to clear some of the ground. Any advice would be most welcome.

Plot is 20yds by 8yds, and I'm looking to grow anything I eat, which probably means only Celery doesn't get a look in. Certainly want to try growing some soft fruits.

Let the challenge and enjoyment begin.

Hello, and welcome to the Madhouse!

Ditch the Rotavator, start hoarding cardboard! Seriously! Weed and clear an area at a time, cover with cardboard as you go, and that'll keep the ground relatively clear until you're ready to use it. Bare ground will very quickly get covered with more weeds, and you'll be tearing your hair out!

Hello Coalemus and welcome You can usually scrounge cardboard from cycle shops or kitchen suppliers - some smaller supermarkets too. Try to acquire some pallets too for a compost bin

Going to look good..at least yours is on the flat. Mine is on a slope 25yds sloping up but at least rain runs down hill so drainage not a problem. Is that a poly tunnel in the background?

Welcome to the Vine. Definitely go for the cardboard, nice thick stuff available free from cycle shops and electrical retailers.
