Default Strimmer recommendation please?

I need a grass trimmer/strimmer as whilst I've been busy planting veg, the lawn has gone nuts! I will be getting a lawn mower in a couple of weeks but the grass and various rogue plants have sprouted to about 18 inches!

I would rather not spend too much.

I won't use a strimmer on my lawn, I only use long handled shears. Takes a while but you get a better looking edge. Strimmers can make a mess of grass in my hands.

I have a Qualcast one in the shed, it vibrates so heavily your'e fingers tingle after using it. Whilst that may sound neat to a number of you, it ain't good news...

Hand arm vibration - Worried about your hands?
