  • Breadmaker upgrade

Today I collected a Morphy Richards Stainless Steel Fastbake Breadmaker via freecycle, which is an upgrade from my Cookworks XBM-128 model.

Morphy Richards: 48268 Stainless Steel Fastbake Breadmaker

This one has the facility to do jam and has a recipe for malt loaf, which I fancy trying.

Has anyone got this model or a similar model that claims to do jam and if so, is the jam any good?

Isn't freecycle wonderful. I have one that claims to do jam but not tried it yet, let me know how you get on

Freecycle is great. I was all set to watch a DVD tonight "Mr Brooks" and then put it on freecycle after viewing. But when inserting the disk, it came up as "wrong region".

So I suppose I'll have to take it down the lottie and use it as a bird scarer instead.

I got that exact same model on ebay for £10 as I thought it would be superior to the Fastbake Cooltouch that I have Morphy Richards Fastbake Cooltouch Breadmaker :: Bread Makers :: Food Preparation :: Kitchen Equipment :: Home Appliances :: CNM Online but I prefer my older one (the white one).

The silver one has a folding paddle which is supposed to be better as it doesn't stick in the bottom of your loaf. However, if you aren't careful, when you put the ingredients in the pan the paddle can drop down flat, you then have to dive in and pull it back into the upright position or if you don't realise your bread won't be kneaded.

Sorry Dottie I haven't tried either to make jam, cakes etc but I will def be trying the jam next year fingers crossed.

Can't you change the region setting on your dvd player?

Type the model into google and search for hack dvd model no ............

It is only a case of pressing some numbers on your remote control.

Yep the instructions state you have to check the paddle is in position, so if it's still in position after the water is added, then I'd have thought it would be ok? As the flour then just sits on top of the water, until the machine starts.

I've never had a problem with DVD's before, so I just assumed it was the DVD.

It's a TV/DVD combined, will this make any difference as I've never put in any codes before?

That's what I thought but I must have been a bit heavy handed when I added the flour!

I've just typed in my make and model and it came up as:

No region hack for this player.

So that's why I've never heard of needing a region before.

But does that mean I can offer the DVD on freecycle, safe in the knowledge that it can be veiwed?

I shouldn't think so buy have a search or ask in the technical section at MoneySavingExpert, they are really helpful on there.

This link will give you an idea of how simple it would be.

I'm not sure Dottie, if you are a member of MSE ask them on the Techie thread.

Otherwise I would either bin it.

Bin it, when I could have a perfectly good bird scarer?

Although I'll offer it on freecycle first and let them know about the region issue, never been an issue with any other DVD.
