Can anyone tell me where I can get those nice shallow baskets with rounded bottoms and a handle that people use for gathering their produce. I don't want to spend a fortune obviously, but would like something robust that will allow me to collect a varied harvest and last for a good few years.

I was given a Sussex Trug for my birthday this year. It is a beautiful object but quite big when you are wondering where to keep it ! In the shed seems a bit sad for such a lovely thing, but where it is now, on the kitchen worktop, it takes up a lot of space ! I do love it though :-)odd notes about our kitchen garden project:

You can get plastic versions of them in garden centres and the like. They don't look as good but are easy to wipe out and are a lot cheaper.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

I got mine at Asda for a couple of quid it is plastic but it serves its purpose when I remember to take it with me lol.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak

Hmmmm, not very helpful of ASDA! Might have more luck with Wilko's or somebody like that.

I have a green plastic trug that i bought from the garden centre last year. most of the time though i seem to just use whatever comes to hand so not sure if it was a good purchase or not to be honest!Comment

I must admit I do tend to use plastic containers for collecting things from the lottie, Ice cream containers, magerine tubs, carrier bags and any thing that I think will be useful get taken to my shed that way I have always got something to put my harvest in.Gardening ..... begins with daybreak

Our local Chineese take away delivers in little plastic containers with lids. I use them for freezing home made ready meals and also have a stash of them in the lottie shed as they're dead handy for bringing stuff home smaller stuff in bike paniers, were really good for the soft fruit.
