The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

              Fish!

Fish will eat the larvae or anything like tadpoles.

If you do have fish and they haven't eaten them, then I've no idea what they are.

We bought six Shibunkins about 7 years ago. We've never replaced them when they've passsed away, as they've always had loads of babies. We were then given my sister's goldfish as he grew too big for his tank and had ambitions to be a shark when he grew up. Nemo eats everything (not the baby fish, they hide in the watercress roots) so we don't have any bug larvae to speak of.

Its not that sort of pond, its one of them cascading ornamental things, it doesnt have anything in it other than about 4 inch of rain water in the bottom pool.

Sound as if the mozzies have bred in the "stagnant" water I would drain(empty) it out & clean with Jayes.

If you have still water anywhere in the garden, mozzie lava will 'appear'

As someone who gets eaten alive by the darn things, I like to avoid them if at all possible. One drop of olive oil on the water surface will prevent them colonising in the first place, or hatching if they are already there, and will do no harm to any fish or vegetation - or so I am told!

                    Good luck!
