    Hiya

Just come from my allotment and meet my new neighbours, they are mum and son and first thought the mum had dragged the boy down to the allotment but to my surprise the boy is the owner of the plot ( i think in his mum;s name) and loves gowing. he is only 13 years of age.

He has started really well and I really hope he continues withit.

Anyone else got any young growers on the plot?

P.s I think its great to have children growing veg

Same as Mrsc2b, grow everything at home. My daughter is very interested in growing and she helps out alot, she is also nine years old. Our local school has a lottie and gardening club that she attended for a year, certainly sparked her interest, but she had to walk quite a long way to the lottie so we try to grow a variety at home in the back yard.

My daughter is 2 and a half going on 12!! she loves helping me sow seeds and waters everything with the watering can regardless of whether it needs it or not!! I am sure it is easier with 9 year olds!!

My daughter used to love gardening, coming to my allotment before we moved, and planting anything she could. Then when I broke my ankle (3 years ago) she gamely pulled up all the lawn in the back garden of our new build house, ready for the greenhouse and landscaping to be done by OH. The sons stayed inside in the warm! She now hates the thought of gardening and says when she has her own home she will stay close to me, so I can be her gardener. Perhaps it is her age as well, it isn't cool to garden when you are almost 16.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

Lauren like sto garden when it is sunny and I have done any heavy work first. She also has the attention span of a concussed gnat at times, so can be frustrating!! She likes seed sowing, but not waiting for the shoots to come through.
