  • you tube, bike's video recorder: help!

So I've been trying out my new bike camcorder, and managed to take video of the lotty as a test.

It took so long (over 3 hrs, is this normal?) to upload to You Tube that I gave up and went to bed. I've just tried again and it's failed.

Tried again with a short clip of the parrot: I can view it on my computer, but Mr TS can't find it on You Tube, how come?

I can normally work things out with some patience & a bit of Googling, but this is doing my nut.

Is there any way of compacting my videos so that they upload quicker? (lotty video is something like 520mb, and You Tube takes 1-5mins to upload each mb)

Oh, and can anyone view the parrot video, or is it just me?

I've got Zwei Stein (look em up, they're free) on my pc - allows me to compress videos and reduce the file sizes dramatically.

Edit: just thought I'd add the link: http://www.thugsatbay.com/tab/?q=zweistein

Bonus is, it's simple to use as well.

I'm presuming you created a login when you uploaded the videos. All you should need to do is log in again, and then select (my videos) and you should see a list of those you've uploaded.

Sometimes they don't feature on search lists until they've been 'verified' I think.

Also, when you upload the video you need to add keywords so that they will appear when you put in those search words. For example, if you added Two_ShedsParrot it'd probably come up top of the list, but you know about searches and stuff...

I thought it would be something like that.

And thanks for that other link, I'll have a fiddle about with that later on.

Hopefully you shouldn't need to fiddle for long.

Can't help with the videos, but just wanted to say that your parrot is GORGEOUS! I used to babysit an African Grey called Jacko, and he loved being sprayed with a water sprayer! Wonderful creatures!

this one doesn't! She screams blue murder if I try to bathe or shower her. A compromise is to hold her on my knee on a towel, while holding handfuls of water to drip onto her. She hates it

Glad you can see the video though, something must be working although I still can't load my lotty vid

Great parrot clip! Might get m-in-laws parrot something similar (she won't give it up yet). Can they learn new tricks - hers is about 25 yrs old. Do they destroy plastic toys eventually?

Sorry for digressing from the original question - I am hopeless and always get oH to do the technical stuff, he always compresses things to make it faster.

Clever girl Kali! I bet she figured that out faster than I would.
I've no idea about loading things to YouTube, O.H. asked me the other day as I use the computer more than him & I just waffled & tried to baffle him. He also asked me if you can save someone's film from YouTube or other clip sharing sites to your own computer but the only thing I know how to do is add them to favourites or forward links to people.

Yes, and you should always try: they need to be stimulated mentally

No, these are special (ie expensive) parrot-proof acrylic toys.

She is really bright, but also discerning.
She refuses to say " bus" even though one passes us 3 times an hour, yet she learned to say "you bugger" after hearing it once

These acrylic foraging toys that she's got, she can crack them in about 5 mins. This one was the hardest for her: she learned the drop-down method very quickly, but then I changed it to a "push-up" problem: took her a couple of weeks.

If you want to see her talking, go on Facebook and search for Kali Reeder-Marshall

                    Hi.

520 meg's is a chunky amount data to be moving around. I can download a film which is two hours long in good quality and the file size would be about 700 megs. The speed you can upload it to youtube relies on the rate you can send it and the rate that they can recieve it.
If youtube was very busy the upload rate may have been reduced.
The url below might help for the next time you want to upload to you tube.

I can see the Parrot clip -she's lovely and looks super healthy too.

I'd have said it was probably a size thang. Ive tried to upload stuff before that was too big and my lappys given up the ghost trying and just gone to sleep.

Just to say what a very clever parrot she is and quite beautiful. I took a look at another link about Einstein the grey parrot. Wow, I was amazed!

                          Thanks for your help, everyone.
My computer wasn't able to cope with much video editing etc it seems. Fortuitously it broke and I got a new one, which is just brilliant
                          New video here
Would someone please tell me if they can view it OK?
