  • why is it...

my mini trampoline thingie (intended to help me get fitter) makes me feel queasy and dizzy and sick?

Maybe I'm just not cut out for this excersise lark.

Am I meant to focus on one thing to stop the head spinny thing? Or shut eyes? Or what?

Best not tell OH as I pestered him for one for ages lol

you are supposed to focus on one spot on the horizon ....... or is that boats?? anyway, focus on one place, then your brain knows you are moving

I don't like jiggling around exercise. Doesn't suit me. A nice calm bit of ballet or pilates or something, or gliding on skis or a surfboard. I've got an aversion to jumpy-up-and-downy stuff (sure that includes trampolines). Though I did like trampolining when I was a teenager actually; tuck, straddle, pike and all that.

I'd sit down and have a nice little drinky and a biscuit. (Inspiring lot aren't we? )

            Well I've had another go.
This time it didn't make me feel sick. Hoorah.
However it is incredibly boring, even watching the chooks down the garden and having the radio on is not enough.
It makes my calvs hurt if I just do the jumpy thing so hae discovered that a sort of walking movement is better. And I was quite scared I was going to fall off! Not got the best balance in the world!

But the worst thing is that I had to hold my chest down as it wanted to take off... not sure what any passers by might make of this sight through the other window lol.

The feeling sick/dizzy/queasy thing is due to the fluid being swished around in your inner ear It's the same thing which causes sea-sickness. You usually get used to it sooner or later

Oooh I had an illness once that was called labrynthitis or something like that and I was dizzy for 8 weeks! Couldn't drive, walk the dog, pour the kettle very well etc cos as as soon as I moved my head the room spun and it was all floaty. And no I wasn't on the sauce for 8 weeks lol.

If I'm gonna get dizzy again I might put the darned thing on freecycle.

I spose it will cause my 4 yr old amusement when he comes home from school to a) see me on it, b)see OH on it, c) have a go himself, d) put his baby brother on it and watch him fall off and e)try and put the cats on it.

So maybe I will keep it for entertainment purposes rather than health benefits!

OH got me one for my birthday, along with a balance ball and a skipping rope.

His word before briging it in were 'don't take this the wrong way....'
I've found a walking/jogging type motion is easier than just jumping. Also have to hold my chest down or it really hurts!

My 3 YO great niece got one for Christmas.
She calls it a BOUNCELINE. Love it.

It was quite funny when I got on earlier, the toddler and the 4 yr old rushed up, both try and sit on a middle bit and look hopefully up at me waiting for me to bounce them as well!

Not sure the weight limit will stand all 3 of us lol
