Have you had much snow Snadger? My daughter reports that here in Sheffield the traffic is horrendous and the supermarkets are packed out like it's Christmas, but I've a feeling that's because everyone's a bit stir crazy at being shut inside for a few days.

Well put it this way......I've lived where I am now for 25 years and I've only ever seen it worse once, and that was a long, long time ago!

It's probably a combination of a break in the weather plus most people that are paid monthly will now have had their last payday before Christmas. Supermarkets are generally busier the first weekend of a month.

We went to Nafport (Freeport) Shopping outlet place this afternoon. Had to drive round for ages to find a parking space. There were at least three cars, that we noticed, half in their spaces, like they had slid out! Yes it is on a slope.

I wouldn`t know, I have been down the lottie whilst someone else has been doing it for me. Nice Tesco delivery man has just been, shopping put away priceless

I spend my working week in various shops/supermarkets/carparks so the last thing I want to do at the weekend is shopping

All the on line grocery deliveries were suspended in Sheffield Mine was cancelled by Sainsburys for Thursday, so daughter went to Tesco yesterday for me and queued for half an hour at the checkout. She was annoyed at how many customers were complaining to the staff that more checkouts should have been open!

Managed to get back and do my shopping! Some of the shelves looked like a hurricane had been through them (Is everyone having Tesco's cheap chicken for Christmas this year?)
Anyway, got £95's worth of shopping and a Jinsters pastie for 30p from the cheapie counter to munch on my way home!

Went up to Sainsburys yesterday (it was still very thick everywhere with snow...well for us down here anyway! ) and it was like a ghost town...fantastic!! All shelves full and packed, everything in stock...just no customers, except us!

was in my local tesco 24hr this evening and i overheard the manager saying that he was disappointed that the takings for the last 24hrs where down- only £180,000 for the store and £20,000 from the petrol station

how can the local high street shops compete? (which where i live is only around 100 yrds away)
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand

Took over an hour in Tesco today just trying to get club card vouchers doubled up before the expiry on the 5th. Twenty quids worth wouldn't register and Club Card apparently said we had already spent them. Red rag to a bull time and with the vouchers in my hand I exhausted my patience with the customer services manager who said he couldn't do anything and asked to speak to the store manager. He was brilliant. Accepted immediately that since we still had the vouchers we couldn't have already used them and gave us a money card on the basis he would sort things out with Clubcard. Better things to do with my afternoon than spend it in a blooming supermarket.
