  • Who says I can't grow mushrooms...

Look at these beauties atop my pile of horse poo:

The thing is, they're on the top, which is about 3ft high and in full sun. As you can see, bindweed has grown up through it as well

Anyone know what mushroom/toadstool they are?

Haven't a clue; you can't tell how high they are - but then again I suppose you did take the photo from about 10 feet in the air no doubt.

Yeah you can if you look closely, the poo "lumps" are much bigger near the shrooms then the ones just above them in the picture (nearer the canes).

Those aren't weeds you can see just above the shrooms, them's trees!

They look a bit like Ink Caps (but you can tell better when they're more mature) or field mushrooms.

But don't eat them on my say-so!

I always let OH eat any uncertain mushrooms we forage in the autumn - he's much better insured

I had lots of those on my muck heap too (though of course my pic would have been a 'from below' shot ). I just dug them back in.
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

The horse poo sure is giving you a good crop of bindweed there

Shaggy in caps are just the most fantastic mushrooms for making soup. There are 2 types though, one of which contains antabuse which is used to stop people from drinking. If you have red wine with your mushroom meal you will yock up big time! So either (preferably!) make sure you know which, or don't drink that day.

We used to pick them in the autumn when the children were young. Very exciting, living off the land etc.

There's more on the side too - this photo was taken with me crouching down, kind of normal height for most. Still not sure I want to eat them....

That ain't the arf of it! It's covered in the stuff - growing up through 2-3ft of horse sh*t!! Determined stuff I'll give it that. I watered it liberally with a strong blend of glyphosate.
