  • Who lives next to horrid neighbours?

I cannot stand my next door neighbours and I have tried and been patient for a long time. Their animals are out of control their tom cat needs neutering - it came in and 'sprayed' on my sofa. It messes all over my garden. As if their vile bichon frise(yap yap yap yap yap yap yap......yap yap yap yap yap.....yap yap yap yap - ALL DAY LONG) wasn't bad enough, aaarghhhhhh............!! I am not sure which is worse - that 'dog', their smelly cat, or their revolting teenage children(boom boom boom boom , rubbish music (ooh you can tell I'm 40 now!..and why don't I open my window so I can blast my neighbour out of her garden whilst I can clearly see she is relaxing.) Oh, and lets have all night parties, why don't we? and how about revving our motorbike up outside late at night? why can't neighbours be nice and normal? Like me.....

Has anyone got anything to beat that? You have to laugh!

been threatened with a hosepipe and airgun from mine...... just because i had a bbq!!!! ok so it ended up bbq 3 days in a row, but music and laughter was kept low after 10 pm, and it wasn't the neighbours directly next door it was the ones after them!! my direct neighbours didn't hear a thing. Basically the fella doesn't have a life ( or friends i imagine ) and doesn't think anyone else should have a life neither, this was last summer.....the other day i heard him moaning to his OH about my kids playing in the garden!!!! serious attitude problem

roll on bank holiday weekend..... yep u guessed it..... another marathon bbq!! lol :-)

I have lived here for nearly 21 years as have my neighbours, to start with we got on alright, they even came to my wedding when I remarried. over the years things have gone from bad to worse. They are very loud all talk at the same time shouting to make themselves heard. It was a husband and wife and older kids and one by one the kids have moved out, trouble is they come back to visit every day esp the daughter bringing their children with them. I have five children so thats not the problem, its just that they dont have any consideration for anyone else. They all ( 11 of them ) went on holiday for a couple of weeks leaving at 3am, putting the luggage in the car went a bit like this ' put a bag in the car slam the door, open the door put a bag in slam the door, put a bag in the boot slam the boot this went on for over an hour by which time I was wide awake.
The husband died a couple of years ago and it went quiet for a while ( he was the loudest ) now she has moved her nephew in he isnt as noisy but no change with the rest of them and now she has a very yappy dog, I like dogs but not this one, it barks at fresh air which starts off the one down the road which starts off the one over the road etc and it sounds like battersea dogs home. I come home in the early hours after working all night and I close my car door very quietly and tiptoe in and close the front door quietly. Why are some people sooooooooo noisy.

Many years ago now, we got invited to a party, which wandered out into the courtyard garden. It wasn't noisy music (that was inside and we could only just hear it via the open doors) nor was it late (maybe 10.30) when the party gave the local police a 'first'. First time the people having the party called them out to complain about the neighbour, who had put a hose through his upstairs window and turned the water on those at the party. He got told to behave, the party finished (as planned) soon after 11.

you do get all manner of nutcases weirdos and unpleasant people don't you

many years ago when we were living in a ground floor flat, the neighbours upstairs used to make an awful noise, they would play loud music, have friends dogs running around, scream and shout at each other, bang something repeatedly on the floor, etc.

when one day we asked if they could keep it down a bit they were all defensive and then half an hour later we had a note pushed under our door asking that i remove my shoes when i walked around in my own flat as it was like a load of nazi stormtroopers every evening when i walked from room to room?!?!

              but they were lunatics

We're really lucky & all our neighbours are lovely. We did however have some rather awkward ones a couple of years ago...parking on the shared drive so that we couldn't,revving his car really loudly in the early hours when he got in from work....nothing big enough to actually make a proper complaint about.I had a word once about the noise(it woke the children on numerous occassions),but it just got worse!I got so that I hated going out in the back garden just in case I saw them!
How come their cat can get in your house?

I think this is the first house I've been in that I haven't hated my neighbours, lol (I don't mean it, but most of them have been awful).

Trouble is, most houses and flats aren't soundproofed, and everyone wants a monster telly and a big booming hi-fi with mega-bass sound system.

Children don't come with a volume control either!

We're now in our dotage (40s) and enjoying a peaceful suburban estate. The house isn't stylish or fashionable, but it is QUIET !

Tell me about it...what with the owls calling all night, the donkey braying at 3.30am, the cockerels crowing and the cows mooing...and the odd tractor and jet fighter...talk about noisy!!!

Nope- we're very lucky over here.

In the UK the neighbours are fine...we've been lucky just to have the occasional disturbance mostly by children playing outside....but then we'd tootle off to the lottie even if we didn't really need to.

Student life was noisy ...and I always felt sorry for the locals who had to put up with loud music in the early hours of the morning...I'm a gal who's always needed her sleep- and they used to drive me mad!

My sympathies to those of you with irritating neighbours..and their pets

have had 2 sets of neighbours from hell. First set screamed, swore, he hit her, he got pixxed every night, booming tv all night, used to put the tv in the garden from 8am until 10pm in the summer, even turned it up so he could strim the back garden and still keep up-to-date with Eastenders .................... Slammed his backdoor on Christmas day and smashed it. they moved out. ................yippeeeeeeee

                        .
                        .
                        .
4 days later new neighbours, fine for 6 months, then hell broke out, repeat of above, drunk at all hours, can't have a quiet conversation, puts music up load when F'ing off on the phone at people, hit wife around, police out, yobs hanging over his fence, barbecuing against out fence. Loud music until 12 at night during school days, when he knew we and other neighbour had children. Ask him to turn down, "I'll effing do what I want, you're not effing telling me what to do". Quiet sunday in sun sat on step, oh no, music turned up full volume so you can't hear the beautiful birds. Came back from hols to find a cannabis plant shooting over the top of his fence, police didn't do anything. Liverpool playing, he'd stamp on the floor so much my ornaments fell off the shelves, if they won, he'd be in the back garden at 1am letting off an air horn to celebrate. We've finally moved out into a mobile home at my mum and dad's going to clear out the house and sell it on, maybe to housing association. He's driven us mad for 2 years and finally we are now calm, happy and my daughter is beginning to do well at school I've got a huge veg garden to work on.
He's just got a drum kit aren't we pleased we aren't there.

Our neighbour on one side is very quiet indeed (single man lives alone). The other side have a son who plays his music loud - well its not music its just banging, to the same beat over and over - I think he's making his own music and can't get the drum beat right. Anyway its not too often but it is sometimes quite late. The mother has mental health issues and about once a fortnight storms up their stairs around 3am and screams her head off at the father and son, slamming doors and banging around. I did call the police the first time before I realised it was her that was the problem (and not that she was being murdered) !! I consider ourselves lucky.
We have loud parties about three times a year - but mainly during the day till about 10pm.. er, except for my birthday last year. Oh, and my birthday this year. Our neighbors accommodate the noise as we accommodate theirs.

Right - off to Homebase now to 'window shop' - yeah right. We need a patio cleaning machine.

I'm lucky as well.We live in semi-detached and the neighbours are quiet(get on with them perfectly).Sometimes we hear odd bang of the door but it happens. No loud tv or stereo.
The house itself is pretty well built-stone,concrete and bricks so not much of the sound coming or going.
As for the outside-I don't mind cockerels,I LOVE owls hooting(sometimes I go outside just to listen to hoots),not so many small dogs yapping around.
The only thing that bothers me are RAF planes-they are extremely noisy and because we live on the way to their manouvre field,I can hear them quite often(always call them all the names under the sun)
