  • Who likes Mondays?

I have the Monday morning blues!

    I hate Mondays cos its the day I have to try and tidy up from the weekend. I have a wonderful hubby who doesnt know how to put things back, throw things away etc and unfortunatly the kids seem to be picking up on his bad habits. Its always worse after a fair (Saturday) as it often means I have the car to unpack or (if hubby had time to do that) the stuff from the car to sort out at least. It may sound terrible to those of you who abound in energy, organisational skills or houseprouditus but to someone like me who tends to get run down the second I do anything out of the ordinary I have to have Sunday to recover from my fair and then get going as and when. I do hate living like this but thats often what you have to deal with when you have health issues. If you click on the link below you may understand a little more;

My fair was dismal too - less than 100 people through the door BUT hey am I disheartened? NO!!!!

Once I have caught up with the untidy dump I call my home! I shall make a start planting some 800 Mini Tete a Tete today which I got at a bargain price so I hope they are ok! I find bulb planting very theraputic and even more so when they all pop up and flower their little heads off!

Is there anyone out there who likes Mondays? and why? Maybe we Monday haters could learn from you!???

    Happy Monday guys

Monday means you have the weekend to look forward to and it's downhill/uphill the rest of the week - just need to hang in for 1 morning, then it's all cool.

Can't stand Mondays and I'm not even sick, so can't imagine how bad it is for you, FnD. I did read the link and will pass that on, as it really did make me think.

Am working in Cambridge tomorrow and Wednesday, so I'm not really classing that as 'work', then it's Thursday after that. Practically weekend! Woo!

I normally like mondays as I get the house to myself during the day and after the weekend but daughter has a non pupil day today and cos I booked the wrong week for half term she has been home for two weeks. We have to go school shoe shopping so here comes the arguments she doesnt like what I like and I have been buying her cheap shoes but they only last a term and her feet get wet so no more but whats the point of paying for shoes that cost the earth when she doesnt like them grrrrrrr she is now an adult size 6 or 7 so they cost a lot. Most of the ones she likes dont keep out the rain nothing to them my niece is coming with me so maybe we wont argue so much.

                    I like Mondays:

                    It's nice and quiet
Always have leftovers from Sunday's food for breakfast [Pea soup today - yum].
Still got some weekend snacks to eat later!

Plus the chance to have the first coffee of the week.

I normally like Mondays, because if it is a day off, I get to spend the afternoon with himself on our own for a change, but today I'm struggling. Worked a long day yesterday (7am-9pm) then came home and did ironing till 11.30 cos I just didn't want to get up to it!!
Slept through alarm so Pickle hasn't gone to school, the stepson hasn't got work today so he's underfoot too.
All I've got to look forward to today is housework and earache and now I've got a headache cos I slept too long!!

There will be no pleasing me today, they have been warned!

Today, I have to make great inroads into finalising a report for work (it really feels like the run up to the deadline for my thesis a few months back). I am already getting material from my new section on "important issues" so that I can "hit the ground running" next week.

I have updated my accounts, but I need to pay bills (and after spending a few quid last week, that won't be pretty). I forgot to make my lunch last night, so I am back to a tin of tuna and some mayo on ryvitas today (I was looking forward to a bowl of veggies). And I want much more copious amounts of sleep than are happening.

On the plus side, it wasn't me who found grey hairs yesterday (cue a panic attack by OH!! And I think mine may even have fallen out I've lost so much recently!!). I swam an energetic 16 lengths in the pool this morning rather than a measly meandering 6 or 8 (when it's really just an excuse for a hot shower). I managed to (accidentally) have a cup of coffee with OH and the toddler this morning - they arrived into the same coffee shop I was meeting a friend in and it totally confused the toddler!! And the sun is shining and I have a (small but) nice new office to move to next week.

I'm in same boat as you Finedon. Great link by the way, it explains the struggle a little bit. I find every day a struggle, and weekends - with Mr Sheds, Little Daughter, the Outlaws - oh my god!

Monday is clear-up day, but it usually lasts until Wednesday to be honest. I have to do the housework in short batches, like give myself 20 mins of ironing, have a rest, do 10 mins of hoovering, and so on. Just a normal day drains me, so Mondays are just horrible.

The most exhausting thing for me is constantly asking other people to put things where they should go (and looking for something they've lost/not put away in the right place). I am sick of hearing myself saying "laundry in washing machine not on floor. Shoes in cupboard, not on floor. Wet towels on towel rail, not on floor. Dirty dishes in dishwasher, not in sink or on draining board. Tools back in the shed, not left on the floor"

(at which stage of life are men & kids taught to just leave stuff on the floor )
