Ok, all you whisky lovers (there must be a few). Which is your favourite tipple? Having Scottish blood, mine is Glenfiddich. I treated myself to a bottle of 15year old Glenfiddich yesterday.... Nectar of the gods or what.

I'm not a whisky drinker at all, barely touch spirits from one Christmas to the next, but if there's a bottle of Laphroaig around, then I might be tempted to a tiny bit. Anything else, I'll happily ignore!

I prefer the peaty malts myself too, but I'd opt for an Ardbeg over the Laphroaig. And given that Glenmorangie Distillery is literally a 5 minute walk from the front door.......................

        Whisky...now ya talking.
I have to say my favorite has to be Ballantine's, although not widely available in England I always buy a bottle (or 2) when we go on holiday. I was fortunate enough to be bought a rare bottle of Gleburgie for my 40th birthday which has not been opened, also a 12year old Whyte & Mackays. I've a rather large collection of Whisky which I don't share with everyone...they tend to want to put lemonade in it

When I was a drinker, My best friend at the weekend was Jack, Jack Daniels.

Probably a poor cousin to your Scottish Real Whiskies I'm sure but its classed as a Tennessee Whiskey !!!

OMG Do I actully have friends that can taste the difference. When I take a drink it is for the one that hits the spot. I do not even notice what it tastes like.

OH loves a single malt, very keen on Glen Ord, but I haven't been able to get it this year. He doesn't mind a drop of Famous Grouse (for glugging rather than sipping), especially as my daughter has discovered that you can order personalised bottles - so he has one labelled Famous Ginger Goatee and one labelled The Famous Wedding Day - really nice gifts! Personally I think it's all revolting!

While I love Bells as an 'everyday' tipple (usually with lemonade to make it last longer). If given the option I would deffo buy a gallon or ten of Ballantine's Purity - the most gorgeous whisky I have ever sampled even if it is blended.

Still trying to find a single malt that really does it for me

*reminder to self - start keeping a list to prevent double tasting

I was weaned on it!. Current favourite is Bunnahabhain. It's an Islay single malt.

Rarely touch spirits, but when I do if it's not Chilli vodka then, due to my Irish heritage, I love a drop of Bushmills malt.

If we are having whiskey we always have Jameson's Irish, its lovely.

Not a big fan myself, but a buddy of mine is a dedicated whisky man. I've invited him to sample some of the fare on offer at our local inn (5 minutes staggering distance from our house): Food And Drink - The Old Sun Harlington

He's treated me to a free sample bottle of Leapfroig, and I have to say that TCP was all I tasted. I bought him some Japanese whisky once - he saves it for special occasions.

We stayed at the Atheneum hotel in London once, and I couldn't help be inspired by the amount of whisky they have on offer: Whisky Bar London | The Athenaeum Cocktail Bar Piccadilly London
There were a few Merkans staying there and they were making a big thing about sampling several whisky's. Acted like complee tarses they did.

                          I'd prefer a Gin.

I can smell TCP in some whisky - is it the peaty ones?

I'm with you, sewer rat - the peaty malts, particularly the Islay ones are my favourites, though Laphraoig is frequently too reminiscent of TCP for me! Wouldn't turn my nose up at Glenmorangie or Talisker either.
