  • When do you go?

Wot, the toilet? The Doctor? For the throat?

No! When do you go gardening? What is your fave time of day? Mine is early morning. Up at 4, allotment by 5 and it's great? Mad? Possibly. Stupid? Maybe. Happy? Oooooooooh Yesssssss!

    When's yours?

I'd love to go lotty early morning, but I have to be at school at 9 ... and covered in mud with black fingernails wouldn't go down well.

so I go after school, before dinner

There are downsides to my job, but one plus side is that I am at home for 4 weeks at a time.
Then, I get up early, and wander out to the garden and start to potter. I'm normally in there for about 7.30 at the latest, and stay till the dog drags me out by the leg for his morning constitutional.
Fantastic time of the day, all year round.

If it's nice and I'm up early, I'll go out and potter with a coffee first thing. I love going out during my lunchbreak (I work from home). But fave time is weekends when I'm not restricted by work etc.

If the weather's nice, I have a potter about for 5 or 10 mins before work, just to gaze lovingly at my babies.

During the week, it's usually after work, but most of my sowing, potting up, etc, is done in the weekend. I'm out there before 9am (which is very early for me!) and only come back into the house for food and water, and looking at my gardening books.

I don't normally get the chance til the squids are in bed so it's 7pm onwards for me. The darker the nights get the more grumpy I get trying to do all the jobs!
I don't have any spare time during the day usually at all.

Mornings usually, after I've dragged my lazy *rse out of bed! I like to potter after I've walked the dog, and before I go to work (not enough customers to be full-time yet). Then again in the evening, with DH if he's not working late.

He's decided recently he likes to help - well the harvesting and eating part anyway! On a good day he'll sit and hand-weed beds too, if supplied with beer!

I used to be up the lottie early, but these days I seem to gravitate towards the puter and this site,(what a time waster!!) but I often go in the evening after evening meal and after I've done any teaching I might have, not many these days as I've cut down a lot. I really enjoy the evening, it's really peaceful and there's rarely anyone else there - the guy on the next plot talks too much and often has his radio on when he's there! I also go on Sat afternoons if the weather is good, that's a relaxation after rehearsing a wind band for 2 hours in the morning!

Until I'm employed again, I go for random wanders around the garden whenever I'm bored. But I do always have a morning dressing-gowned wander in my slippers!

When I'm fit, I usually drop my daughter off at school, walk the dog, then go straight to the lottie. Make a brew in the shed and wander round checking everything and deciding the day's jobs. Even if I have stuff to do at home, I have a brew and a wander on the lottie first Otherwise, I stay there til I get hungry (so usually there for at least 3 hours), then go home and have lunch & an hour or 2 on the pooter before the kids get home. Perfect....

I work from home so I nip out whenever I cant stand the sight of my PC anymore. Last few days it has been a case of nipping out between showers and thunder

I have to snatch the odd hour here and there (escaping from jobs like insulating the new loft, plumbing the new kitchen - that kind of thing!)

I love the lottie early on Sunday mornings (8.30 - 9am), its really still, the church bells ring, and the neighbours chooks start clucking their heads off as they start laying that mornings eggs - bliss!! (for me, not so much for the chooks i guess).

Our new garden gets pottered around every hour or so - I can't leave it alone. Its the first thing we do when we arrive on site.

Very early (there by 5) or very late, (staying until after ten) this has always been my preferred way as I really can't work in hot weather, but is now compulsory as we have the chickens.

I do it all on my days off, and water occasionally on my days in work. Every three days I have a big splurge, and I really look forward to doing it.
