  • What are YOU truly grateful for?

I was sat by the fire, and there was a knock on our door.
    It was Rachael.

I had sent her a text earlier in the day to tell her that I'd developed 'Larry Jytus' and felt chuffin' sorry for myself? and so, in true Catherine Tate 'style' she'd COME T'SEE ME?! and she'd brought me a Birthday Present as well, gawd bless 'er....! Actually, I look nothing LIKE Catherine Tate, and I'm not as old as Nan neither!

Her Birthday Present to me is a magical book called THE SECRET, which she told me about a few months back when I first met her.
When I first met Rachael, the twinkle and smile in her eyes truly intrigued me.
And having read most of the book now, I understand exactly where that 'twinkle' and 'smile' came from - and I am truly grateful to her for the very twinkle and smile that adorns my own face now.

You see, I think it's actually 'little things' that we should be grateful for, because all of those go to make up the really big things in life eventually.

I read a perfectly lovely bit in that book yesterday that said something like:

"When you put your first foot on the floor out of your bed in the morning, you should say "THANK" and the other foot on the floor should say "YOU" and every step to the Bathroom should be "THANKYOU.THANKYOU.THANKYOU" etc. and why not?
I'm a firm believer in that if we don't have gratitude for what we have, how can we expect more lovely things in our lives?
And the more gratitude we have, the more lovely things will surely come our way.

            truly...

When I was 2 days old I went back into hospital with double pneumonia and have had lung issues ever since. So I really am Truly Grateful that they still work; testament to that, I am up at stupid o'clock again because of another coughing fit.

It scares the heck out of me each time I get a cold because I know the coughing for weeks on end follows. I sound like I smoke 40 a day, but it's just bad bad lungs. The last one lasted 8 weeks, and only got rid 3 weeks ago.

            ho humm...

Well I am grateful to two individuals - my hubby and my friend Wilma. My hubby because he married me - he knows I'm daft and loves me for it. Wilma because she is as daft as me. Hubby and I have cancelled our hols as Wilma is facing eviction as her landlord did not pay the mortgage, cancelled last night after hearing more bad news. I am also eternally grateful to the medical staff in the neurosurgical unit in the Southern General Hospital who have saved my hubby twice in the past four years. I count my blessings everyday, even the wee ones

Wellie I couldnt agree with you more! I am grateful for far too many things to list. Without gratitude it is too easy for me to focus on the things I think are wrong in my life and lose sight of the good stuff.

Better to be grateful for the little things - there are LOADS more of them!
Best bit of my life - my lovely husband, our two children and two grandchildren.
I'm also grateful for the happy-go-lucky temperament I inherited. Nowt to do with me but I really appreciate it. I'm happy FAR more than I'm not.

PS - and I'm ETERNALLY grateful for finding you lot!

I'm grateful that my Mum didn't "loose her marbles" when close to death. She was keeping her mind active by saying her 12 times tables.

I'm grateful that I've inherited a silly sense of humour (harmless) from my Uncle John and that I've passed it on to my children and grandchildren. It's hilarious when we all get together

Is this the Sunday School thread?

Sorry playmates but my Sunday morning sermon begins "Lifes a bitch and then you die"
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
