  • What happened to Summer?

The weather here has been awful since July, and this morning it feels like winter. Cold grey and windy.

    It's September in 3 days!!!!

Ah...memories of setting off for school wrapped up in a duffle coat and scalf...and coming home with it tucked under my arm cos it was too warm to wear it.

When the children go back to school is when summer will start again (hopefully).

We go back to school on Weds so I can say with some certainty that the weather will be wonderful! It has been a horrid summer, wet, windy and now it is bloomin cold or is that just because we have a huge hole where the back wall on our house used to be!!!
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

We've had a mainly lovely, warm, dry summer again this year, like last year. It went a bit pear-shaped the week we went away in July, just to annoy me. It's been very changeable the last few weeks too. Round here we still have standing Wheat, and its going black in places. I bet the Farmers are cursing!

We had a hot dry July, and a cold wet August. Same thing 3 or 4 years running now

We've actually had a pretty decent day , bit nippy out of the sun first thing. Can't wait for the kids to go back , sure sign of some dry weather. ( I've probably given it the kiss of death now )

we had two months of near constant sunshine and hot weather, and it's only been raining for about 2 weeks in august, now it's really windy.
I think we get greedy, we want it perfect all the time, or at least perfect for the veg. I'm still shocked it's almost september....

Not sure if it's a case of after nearly six years we've finally got it right or whether we have the weather to thank, but it's been one of our best years at the lottie...even my varrots and corn are good.Must admit the wet upset me onions a bit
The last few years we seem to have had a pretty dull August followed by a warm September....so fingers crossed.I don't feel quite ready to put my sandals away just yet.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
