  • This Is What Greeted Me Yesterday...Gutted...!

    Afternoon All

Got home yesterday and was greeted by a wrecked greenhouse..(pic attached)..had high winds here, but I didnt think strong enough to do this much damage. I was able to save a lot of plants, but lost quite a fair few too...took me all last night to salvage what I could...I need some sympathy people...lol..it is now attached to the outside wall, so fingers crossed.

    Cheers

oh dear braders! what a nightmare for you! hopefully the fact that you have bolted it to your wall should mean it's now stable - unless your wall gets blown over

Ouch Braders, that's gotta hurt. Much sympathy. Hopefully you've managed to salvage lots of stuff. Is it too late to start again on what you've lost? Some plug plants perhaps?

Sorry to hear about your greenhouse, do you get the Telegraph, or know someone who does? There's a coupon in there to get a £2.99 tray of veg plants, but with the paper £1.60?, it's not worth it if you have to buy, then travel especially. There are several outlets that you can collect from, my closest was Wyvale, and I was going past anyway, so picked up 9 caulis.
You can redeem the coupon all week I think.

          eeewwww........not a nice sight!

Unfortunately we've had a similar thing in the past...still, it's very frustrating

Go and treat yourself to a few plugs as the others suggest..they may not be a variety you wanted- but at least you'll have some larger plants to get you going again!

How horrible. It's not just the greenhouse it's the early start with the plants that you lose. Hope you've salvaged some of everything?

This is a family forum, thus I cant say just how upset I would have been. Gutted for you.
Hope you can save enough stuff, and that it stays up this time.

Aww. How awful! And from your photos youve got it in what I would call a sheltered spot. Battle on chuck! Try putting bricks on the metal poles on the bottom to prevent it being caught by the wind again. Mind you, the way its blowing a gale and chucking it down here in Preston, I hope youve got better weather!

It happened to me twice earlier in the year.
My garden's a bit of a wind tunnel - not a lot I can do about it apart from weight the g/hses down and hope for the best

I've had it happen to me, last year at this time funny enough with a greenhouse laden full of plants from school, managed to revive some of them though. I've got plans to build my own this year

What a bummer, Braders! Do you need to replace anything Tomato or chilli- plant shaped, as I can oblige. PM me if you need some decent, chunky little beasts.

The designers need to redesign these greenhouses so that when you put cover over it, you have holes ready made so you could drill into a wall or something, they are so bloomin flimsy a bit of wind and thery are off!

Really sorry to see this its a bummer :-( I got rid of mine and invested in a proper little leanto...
