  • What to do?

I have a fantastic Victa 550– mulcher – mower bought for me by my father in-law several years ago - the trouble is having got it out this weekend I have found two faults one the engine seems to be revving all the time and the belt drive that self propels it along isn’t working (I can manage without the belt drive): I rang around two local repair shops and both took a sharp intake of breath and said - going to be very expensive “as these don’t break down very often and parts are expensive” etc etc one was happy to quote over the phone of upwards of £200 Now I know they are £1000 new but really I feel like I am being taken for a ride, but if that is true my inclination is to buy a new mower for that money…but it was a gift and my father in law always says “how’s the victor it will out live the both of us!!!)

    Advice appreciated

    Pat
