  • What do you do when you're off the plot?

I'm on a running forum (the other thing apart from groing veg that I love doing and which constitues real life). On there I bang on about growing runner beans and the ex-bat hens we're going to adopt. On here I find myself wittering on about running whilst scrounging some great advice about my soon-to-be-adopted ex-bat girls

So what makes everyone else's life tick apart from what we usually talk about here?

The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul.

Spend time with my two daughters (7yo and 7 months old), on the Vine (), make soups / chutneys / pickles / jellies / jams for selling at Farmers Markets etc, do paperwork, work as a doorman on Friday and Saturday nights, and occassionally, just occassionally see the wife as we pass on the stairs !!

Work mostly. Can't wait to retire!! Apart from that I have four children, seven grandchildren. Used to love cross stitching, but can't see well enough now - need to get some new specs and a daylight lamp (and some spare time).

Lots of things, but at the moment, making sugar paste flowers for my brother's wedding cake that I am doing for them as their wedding present.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

So we're all mentally busy from the sound of it! I drove home this afternoon, paused before driving in and said look to the OH. Finally he saw the field of weeds that's just in the front garden that I've been meaning to deal with for weeks but haven't had time.

Where can I get some of those Beeblebrox glasses????

Well, I haven't been to my allotment for a few days now I've been at work, and it's been too wet to do anything useful
But I have just come back from Wasdale in the Lake District, where I've bagged the last three hills I needed to complete all the Lake district summits; there are 214 according to Wainwright
Now I can concentrate on harvesting the onions, and generally weeding, mulching and tidying for winter - assuming we ever get any fine weather!

for me I usually potter with wood bits and bobs plus photography and read just about anything to with veggies (does this make me a nerd???) in fact even when i'm pottering around making things its usually for the allotment so i guess that makes me an addicted 'to my allotment' nerd hehehehe
