    Water Garden/Pond Category?

    Should we have a pond/water garden/feature thread category? Or have we got one and I can't see it?

    We're redoing our pond this year (once we've rounded up enough volunteers to do the digging) and any helpful hints, tips etc would be great as we aren't experts by any means. I know lots of useful info can be found on the superinterhighwayonlinewebnet but it's nice to get other people's views and experiences.

    If you get stuck I may be able to help. I have kept fish for more years than I haven't and currently own a 3000 gal koi pond. (The wildlife one had to go when I had the extention built). I don't claim to know it all but I can certainly point you in the right direction if not.

      I would have thought a wildlife pond would be in the wildlife section.
      Ornamental garden feature might warrant a section of its own, next would be the game of suggesting a name for it!
      How about "Making a Splash"?
      Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

          At present, I've got my coloured pencils and drawing paper out, pretending I'm Charlie Dimmock. I think we're definitely heading for more depth, adding a sloping bank one side and a watercourse on the other. My DD has got her Scouting friends to do the digging for us in exchange for feeding, but we need to get a date set when scouts availability/weather coincides. Meanwhile, I'm managing to stick to our strict budget thanks to ebay - amazing what you can find on there - I could get very carried away with water lilies....

                Hi

                Two things.

                Water lilies always grow bigger than you think ( but I love them too! - Monet fan)
                and they do not care for splashing, moving water so try and keep them as far away from water falls and fountains.

                Are you intending to use a liner, if so go for the most expensive and durable you can afford as anything else is simply false economy.
